Special Price on Dominion October Fest

Dominion has a limited supply of Octoberfest which they are going to be selling at the brewpup for $16 per case. The beer is close to the end of it’s shelf life and they say that it is is showing slight signs of oxidation but is still delicious.

I had fogotten that DC bars went smoke free on January first until I read the latest email from the brickskeller. I need to get out and do some beer tasting in a non smokey bar 🙂

New Beers on tap at the Brick, Tickets on sale for lovefest

Russian River and Allagash upstairs at the Brick

Dave wrote to say that the Jan 24 & 25 Tickets are now on sale for the first LOVEFEST!

Vinnie Cilurzo of Northern California’s Russian River Brewing Co and Rob Tod of Maine’s great Allagash Brewing Co will take the stage to talk about the all the gold medals they’ve won.

The first half of the program theywill serve a few rounds of similar styles the breweries produce letting the guys talk about their philosophy on brewing these styles or whatever they want to talk about, the second half of the show Katie bars the door and we serve a whole bunch of their big specialty beers and they’ll either talk about brewing them or whatever they want to talk about! .

Tickets are only $30.00 for this first of it’s kind event, to be held upstairs at the Brickskeller January 24th and/or 25th!

I need to get out and try more of their beer now that they have a restaurant in Tysons Corner Mall.

Brickskeller Lagunitas Brewing Event

Tomorrow night, January 9th the Brickskeller will be hosting an event faturing California’s Lagunitas Brewing

Dave reports that they have raided their valts and are bringing Freakout and Undercover Shutdown, Brown Shugga from 05, and their barelywine, Old Gnarly from 04.  They are also bringing some of their current 12oz offerings, IPA, Censored and Hairy Eyeball!

Dave is going to toss in rounds of both their 9th and 10 anniversary brews in 22 oz bottles out of his own personal stash.

Dave says “This is going to be a great evening featuring many of the west coasts finest
beers, some that have never been here before and we’ll not see again after the event.”

Washington Post article on Old Dominion Brewery sale

I have been hearing some rumbling for a while now, but I thought the deal was dead. Today the Washington Post is reporting Old Dominion Brewery sale appears imminent. The deal would involve Old Dominion, Ram’s Head Tavern and the beer giant Anheuser-Busch.

Capitol Kolsch
This lager like ale is modeled after the official beer of Köln, Germany. Kolsch is delicate and refreshing with a slight fruitiness and supportive, yet unobtrusive hop bitterness. 4.8% ABV

Pale Rider
Our American style pale ale is medium to full bodied with an assertive hop bitterness and aroma. The citric, floral flavor and fragrance of American hops is balanced with a strong malt backbone of Pale and Munich malt. 6.1% ABV
Amber Waves
2006 Silver Medal, 2005 Gold Medal GABF
A medium bodied west coast style amber ale. This is aggressively hopped with Perle and Cascade hops, and is held together by its sweet malty center. 5.3% ABV

Dunkelweizen
In many ways this unfiltered German wheat beer is like its close cousin the hefeweizen. It has a light body, low hop bitterness and aroma, and uses over 50% wheat malt. unlike hefeweizen, it has a light mahoghany color due to the use of munich and caramel malts, with a touch of chocolate to finish it out. hope you enjoy! 5.1% ABV
Oatmilk Stout
This English style oatmeal stout has lactose sugar added to the boil to give it extra body and a smooth finish, along with the oatmeal contributing to the body and silky mouthfeel. It has a full bodied flavor with enough hop presence to balance the flavor of the dark malts. 6.8%abv
Ipa
This is a medium bodied, unfiltered american style india pale ale, meaning we used a ton of Pacific northwest hops to give it huge citrus and floral aroma and flavor. The bitterness of the hops is gentle enough to not overpower this beer, but it still pack a wallop. 6.5%abv

Saint Adrian’s Alt
This German-style brown ale was originally brewed in the Northern city of Dusseldorf. Our version has a copper color with a light to medium body. German noble hops balance out this beer with a crisp bitterness that leaves you wanting more. 5.5%ABV

Capitol Kölsch
A light bodied golden ale originally brewed in the city of Koln, Germany characterized by lightly fruity aroma, a mildly sweet middle, and a crisp hoppy finish.

Pale Rider Ale
A medium to full bodied American pale ale with loads of hop character in the aroma flavor and finish using only west coast American hops and supported by a solid malt backbone.

Amber Waves Ale
A Pacific Northwest inspired American amber ale with a big Cascade hop aroma, a sweet malty middle with mild bitterness and a balanced finish.

PROHIBITION PORTER
A medium bodied, robust English porter. This dark ruby (almost black) hued beer has a roasted coffee aroma, a sweet malty middle and ends with a mild, yet distinct chocolate flavor in the finish.

Nut Brown Ale
A medium bodied and unfiltered American Brown Ale brewed with several varieties of caramel and chocolate malts yielding a beer with a sweet malty nose, light caramel flavor, and finished with a crisp American hop character

Belgian golden
