Magic Hat is upgrading it’s brewery

Magic Hat is spending 6.5 million on expanding it’s brew house.

The current expansion will allow the brewery to make 300,000 barrels of beer a year, twice what facility has the capacity it has for now. The new 7,000-square-foot building will house a new bottling machine capable of filling 400 bottles a minute, up from 100 bottles a minute on the current machine. A new 150-barrel brew house will replace the 50-barrel brew house; and new fermenting and conditioning tanks, as well as expanded refrigeration and storage space, will allow the company to grow steadily.

Costco to launch its own craft beer label

I am not sure that a Kirkland branded beer would be on my shopping list. I have seen the Trader Joe’s branded beer and was alway curious about who was making it but never enough to make me reach over and grab a 6 pack.

The Bender Brewing machine

So you have seen the Matt Groening TV show Futurama? You remember the robot Bender. Well there is a guy in New Zealand that had built a life sized Bender with a fermenter inside. I think this guy has to much time on his hands, but he is making beer so it is worth mentioning here. Enjoy

Wash Post Article on Beer

The Washington Post article talks about the problems Bob and Ellie Tupper have been having finding a new home for Tuppers Hop Pocket now that Old Dominion has stopped brewing it. I am guessing the writer of the story went to the same beer tastings I went to at the Brickskeller since a lot of those quotes do sound very familiar.

Mystery Object in scotland

A Mystery object washed up on the shores of Scotland has been identified as a Coors Fermentation tank.

The container was found by a dog walker on Poll Na Crann beach – known locally as Stinky Bay – near Griminish, on west Benbecula.

First off, how did this get into the seas? Second why didn’t anyone miss it? I did a little googling but didn’t find anymore information on the subject.
